HOPA has been partnering with the Bone Marrow & Cancer Foundation to serve as a Group Host on the CancerBuddy smartphone app—a free peer support network that connects patients, survivors, and caregivers based on shared experiences. CancerBuddy offers individual connections, moderated group discussions, resource access, and patient education.
HOPA’s Oncology Pharmacist Group works to:
• Educate patients and caregivers on the role of oncology pharmacists.
• Engage group users on key topics such as supportive care management, drug-drug interactions, medication management tips, importance of vaccinations, and clinical trial participation.
Volunteer Responsibilities:
• Content Planning: Prioritize a monthly list of discussion topics and suggest additional subjects.
• Community Engagement: Post questions, tips, or insights on a daily/weekly basis to foster group discussion.
• Q&A Support: Respond to group questions within 48 business hours (no personalized medical advice).
Please note: While the volunteer work will be approximately 3 hours/month, we are looking for a 2-year commitment from volunteers
Who We’re Looking For:
CancerBuddy users come from diverse backgrounds and locations, so we seek oncology pharmacists from various practice settings. Ideal volunteers:
✔ Enjoy engaging one-on-one with patients, survivors, and caregivers.
✔ Are comfortable using a smartphone app (though prior experience is not required).
